edLow SG n u should ask the ladies why are they enjoy doing tat and leeching the groom another sum of money.
choco B SG This is what I do. Try to help out as friends. But if really cannot then bo bian la. If the couple's gonna take offense that I pay below cost, I think seriously the friendship needs some looking into
Nelstar SG Question: You mentioned that the people who attend must not let the couple make a loss. THEN WHY invite us when you know we're poor sods? Just for the customary? Expecting us to give some lame excuses? Or wanna make our lives more difficult?
edLow SG did u even read one of my post tat i dont even intend to hav one.. i just wan a small gathering and fly off for a holiday. if u didnt... or if all of u didnt.. maybe u should read back and find tat post of mine. yes i might be out of pt saying the guest part for attending the dinner.. but if u really are force to have one.. at least there such things as market rate where ur frds can help in reducing ur debts for the dinner. and if u are holding one at a posh place becos of ur own face or parent face prob... u onli hav urself to blame.
Nelstar SG AND SO? $60 might meant a lot to others... What's the point of having an event where some of the poorer sods will not turn up due to financial problems and then saying things to those poor guys "you must attend my wedding hor!" What's the point when you can't have friends to celebrate, start throwing them out of the line in favour of richer ones?
edLow SG becos they wan u to join in the celebration. it's just a simple dinner of joy and why do u ppls wan to make it sound like a money event thing? every thing in a dinner cost money too. yes my previous post might be quite money orientated.. but wat in short.. since u are invited for the joy occasion.. enjoy within ur own limit..
Nelstar SG That's why THE RED PACKET was rubbish and here you're saying that we should at least pay enough to foot the bill. WHAT kind of rubbish is that? PAY enough to foot the bill? Why don't the couple put the price tag on the wedding invitation card? edlow, you kept on blabbering that 'YOU should not attend if you cannot afford the bill'. It makes me wonder if you might say that to your friends if you're forced to have a wedding dinner.
edLow SG if u really noe they hav such finical prob and excuss themselves.. it would be best to let it be.. and instead of insisting them to attend. perhaps u be the one whom will do tat. if my guests cant attend the dinner becos of his/her finical prob. i just let it be. and perhaps invite them out another day for a small lunch or so.. if u noe ur frds n relative arent tat damn rich. dont hold it at some posh place lah. it still the couple / their parents decision to hold the place...
Rhonda SG I think the one who really made it sound like a money-orientated thing by talking about paying 'market rate', is none other than... *gasp... you!!
