the Bear SG yeah.. there's the usual roots, twigs and other things herbal.. then in another part of the bag of herbs, is one or two hornets.. supposed to boil everything and drink the stuff... the clerks at work swear by it.. my throat has never been that bad that i had to use it but i'll not hesitate if i have to...
Rhonda SG I have the 1980's version of Tian Long Ba Bu! When I played the Chinese flute in JC, I used to hide in an empty tutorial room, sit on the window ledge, and play my favourite Hong Kong TV series songs, including the Tian Long Ba Bu main song and other songs.
littlestream SG Aiyoh, si mi si Liao Zai? My pin yin very poor one leh. The lawyers one? It's called When Rules Turn Loose. You know the War & Beauty? Well, the modern equivalent is The Charm Beneath. Also domestic politics one. Not bad. Wah, you so rich one ah? You actually buy ah.....and originals some more ah? *Applause* Really eh sai man, you!
littlestream SG Cannot!!! I must eat ALONE!!! Firstly, cannot share. Secondly, they may mistake me for hungry ghost.
av98m SG That's the version I'm watching! Qiao Feng is the arseluck joe of the series. Do you have the 3 CD set, Gang Ju Jing Dian? I could not find a copy even after mcuh searching and finally got a friend to burn a copy for me.
Rhonda SG Liao2 Zai1... that famous Chinese collection of weird stories? Well, it was three boxed sets for less than $50! Usually, it'll cost over $100! Don't you think it was a great buy?! Maybe, it's much more expensive if you were to attempt to buy it over there? Here, there are hefty discounts at Poh Kim and / or TS, the two large VCD chains here. Man, I'll miss watching Asian movies and series when I'm in Melbourne. I'm sure they're pretty ex there!
Rhonda SG Oh wait... I got mixed up... I've been wanting to buy Tian Long Ba Bu but ended up buying Yi3 Tian1 Tu2 Long2 Ji4 instead! The version with Tony Leung in it. I think my parents bought Tian Long Ba Bu. Not sure if they have the one you want though. I'll go check when I visit grandma next - they keep most of their VCD's at grandma's place where the other relatives would try to borrow them too... and most of them don't ever return the stuff they took!
Rhonda SG That's soooo funny!!! OK, how about we bring you there, then you sit alone at your own table and nobody fights with you for your precious durians?
Rhonda SG av, I'm very impressed! You're one of the few peeps I know who's English-educated and yet, loves the Wu3 Xia2 series! Waaaah!!
the Bear SG you have got NOTHING on me when it comes to eating mangosteens... and durians are about the same when i get going so, don't worry about "hungry ghostie"
av98m SG Thats all right, since I already got the copies. Felt like buying the whole trilogy at one shot, she diao ying xiong juan, shen diao xia nu, and yu tian tu long ji. The original 80s versions. But very xiong to buy like that! $$$!
Rhonda SG I had been eyeing the She Diao Ying Xiong Juan series for some time now and the year before last, managed to persuade my parents to part with it so I can bring it with me to Melbourne to watch! So now, I've got She Diao Ying Xiong Juan, Dong Xie Xi Du and Shen Diao Xia Nu with me! I often purchase these TV series only when discounts are being offered. If you're a member of Poh Kim or TS, it helps.
the Bear SG you're going to end up bringing about a ton of stuff to melbourne which will never make it out of the box
Rhonda SG I watched the latest Taiwanese version of Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre, where our local Phyllis Quek had a role too, but yikes, they doctored the show soooo much that I really disliked it! I still prefer the older versions of the shows... more authentic. I remember watching a new remake of some wu xia show with my parents when mom spotted a necklace that she owns used as a prop on some actress' headpiece!! She was and said how could they use such a modern accessory as a hair prop for a period drama?! I remembered the older versions were more authentic. Nowadays, the costumes and all that are way too modern.
Rhonda SG I am soooo going to prove you wrong!! I'm going to slowly purchase furniture cause most apts come unfurnished there... start with the barest minimum first, but it shall be my utmost pleasure to finally own enough furniture to no longer have to live out of boxes. For the past few years, I've been more or less living out of boxes and I'm tired of it liao! I need a permanent base.
the Bear SG nothing to watch now... people riding flying wolves on arts central.. stallone trying to act on ch 5 water margin on ch 8.. i think i'll go cook something to eat?
