charlize SG Wtf has container ports have to do with owning your own house? Stop introducing your pet topics into the thread lah.
Kan_i SG U can afford it... NZ houses are cheap and land is plentiful. Infcat if you go outside metro of Australia land is cheap and big. No maids though.... i think you people in SG, HK, Macau have it easier. Maids are cheap.
av98m SG Anyway, back on-topic, I remember thinking to myself when I was signing the papers for my apartment, "Yep! My backside now belongs to the bank!!"
elindra SG NZ is my dream location for retirement I can't imagine doing all the cleaning though especially when I like materials like wood and natural stone and that's like expensive and needs maintanence
elindra SG I think it is to most peeps. Anyway ultimately it all boils down to debt management on how long you want your funds to be tied up, or not at all. Usually that is the leverage between a really wonderful looking house and something more practical
SydneyLibrarian SG No need for maids... our house will be a manageable size, about 600sqm My brother's place is nearly 1000sqm and he & my sis in law manage the whole house by themselves & it is dead neat
sbst275 SG Fool lah you If your facilities are scattered all over the places, land usage is not maximised
Meia Gisborn SG The one golden rule of home ownership that I learned the hard way after acquiring my home some years back: Home improvement projects never cease. The completion of one project usually highlights an inadequacy in one's living space that can only be addressed by initiating another home improvement project. And thus the cycle continues... (My current HI project: repainting the upstairs bathrooms with paint that is a little more, shall we say, 'water resistant.') MG
LazerLordz SG I still want to live at Dandaragan Bay, or Scarborough Beach, Perth. whatever the case, my house/flat must have rustic elements..
LazerLordz SG good weather, great sun, open land for astronomy, close to SG for the mandatory shopping and summer holidays. good to raise a family and near enough to leave them while you work in SG etc.. and lots of my family is Down-Under.
Kuali Baba SG It's also quiet and laidback...no one who moves there wants to be reminded of hectic city life.
