I think you're not a true dog lover cause all dog lovers know
that you should NEVER EVER give a dog a bone, b'cuz dogs can break
the bones they chew on, and splinters can get lodged inside their
throat and in bad situations, it can become a medical emergency!
I learnt that the hard way... when I threw a couple of chicken
bones to the neighbour's dog in the US, and had the shock of my
life 
when the dog ATE UP the bones!!! He didn't chew them, like I
thought they would, ... instead, I heard CRUNCH!! CRUNCH!!! and
then turned around to see him EATING the bones!! 
I called up one of my American friends and told him what just
happened and he said, 'Oh goodness! Sweetie, you NEVER give a dog a
bone, literally! You might have just killed the dog!!' And I was
!!
The next morning, I ran out to the backyard, yelling, ''Quiche!!
Quiche!!!'' (the doggy's name), and was soooo happy when he ran
out, all happy to see me!
Oh man!! I learnt my lesson well that time! 
So, now, I leave all the 'give a dog a bone' business to that
knick-knack paddy-whack man called 'This Ol' Man'!
