Honestly after you've backpacked, you'd find it very hard to swallow the kind of packaged tours ever again ..... Razz

maybe you can go for a "luxurious backpacking" holiday ? ... say switzerland or Europe on a backpack ? .... staying in hotels and lodges ? ... Very Happy

I for one dislike the idea of package tours very much ..... (unless it's for diving trips, then LL there's nothing I can do ... Confused )

Ya, I dislike package tours ever since I went for one with my mum to Bkk and Pattaya donkey years ago....they made us meet at 6am to have breakfast! Shocked

But the planning a backpak trip is quite tedious esp if you have several places to cover, and then you'll need a contingency plan if you miss the bus/train, etc. *Sigh*....i need a break from all that. Laughing

I'm not sure if I'm up to the work required for a f&e trip... I might consier a leisurely packaged tour , if such a thing exists LOL

Otherwise, if f&e , it's gotta be a place that's easy to get around, and with little language problems, some place fail proof. Definitely not too ulu LOL

Well, if you haven't been there, London is easy....as long as the Underground workers don't go on strike, again. Laughing Plus, with your love of shopping and stuff...it would be perfect,e.g. can buy Marks n Spencer and The Body shop stuff at one-third to half price. Wink

LOL Much as I love shopping he makes a lousy shopping companion. I'm very much a city girl though, I love urban scapes & environments & start to miss the city when away for too long, so London , NYC would be right up my alley.
