The law says imprisonment or fine.In his case, and in the
context of Singapore trying to be a more inclusive place, wouldn't
jailing him run contrary to whatever we've been trying to
accomplish?
The law allows for a fine, and the judge made a wise move.He could
just stay there for good, but he chose to return. That's a
mitigating factor as good as any to me.Singapore should learn to
drop the siege mentality in every aspect.Don't be quick to raise
the fists to pummel anything that comes our way.
We have served our time in our own way, let him do so in peace. It's
harder to forgive or be objective than to criticise and heckle, in
the end, does it really make sense?
