Rhonda SG Oooh... the focus is on the town of Lisbon now! The hostess just bit into this lovely tart-like pastry with a filling resembling custard and sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. She went, MMMMMmmmmmmmmMMMmmm!!! and closed her eyes when she bit into it! I want! I want!!!
Rhonda SG Someday, they'll offer healthier versions for the healthnuts... "Carrot sticks, Celery sticks, Ricecakes, and mineral water!"
Rhonda SG Fatum, have you cooked curry before? I haven't. Have only watched my grandma cook it, Nyonya-style. The closest I've cooked would be Keema, I guess. (Minced Beef / Mutton Rendang).
Fatum SG i tried cooking malaysian style beef rendang before, the super dry one ... but it's a lot of work, and had to dig for grated coconuts, grating them is no fun ! .... chicken curry would be the easiest, chinese style ones .... chicken pieces and potatoes ... but i use milk instead of coconut milk
Rhonda SG I always like cooking from scratch! Once, I made Hoon Kueh with Corn and squeezed the coconut milk myself. Needless to say, the hoon kueh was rich and very very delicious! Brought it to the office the next day and my colleagues wolfed them all down! Same with a few cookies I made for Chinese New Year once too! One was a Jam Sandwich Cookie, and the other was my 'famous' Raisin Drop Cookies with Orange Zest. Mom, dad and bro finished it all before CNY! Curry with milk... hmm... it's healthier, but doesn't it lose out in terms of flavour?
the Bear SG ahh.. chinese chicken curry.. easy as pie.. coat chicken with mixture of curry and chilli powder.. fry the coated chicken until half-cooked.. add the coconut milk and chilli/curry powder (here, requires touch and experiece for taste) and bring to boil.. with a little bit of salt too when boil (not too hard, fire not too hot) allow to simmer.. (again, a gentle touch is necessary as if you boil it too hard, the oils of the coconut comes out and the thing is yukky ) eat with crusty bread
the Bear SG try yoghurt instead... damn... if i were William, i'd be makin' moves on the lady smith instead of the silly lady...
Fatum SG oh yeah .... you guys got to try out this deep fried brine chicken recipe .... soak big pieces of chicken legs in fish sauce for about half an hour .... then deep fry them in medium heat .... KFC doesn't even come close ! ..... heavenly !!! ......
the Bear SG try chicken thighs.. the fat in the chicken thighs makes the chicken tender, gives the chicken a lot of yummy juices the leg doesn't make it..
Fatum SG yes of course ... i mean the whole leg .. drum stick and thighs .... the fish sauce gives it an amazing flavour ! .... this is an Isan recipe that can be found in almost every street corner in thailand ...
