Dear fellow forumites,
I was listening to the news today and they announced some
statistics regarding home ownership in Singapore.
But come to think of it, how many of us (so-called elitist by some)
actually own the accomodations we live in? Most of us so-called
elitists live in HDB flats or condominium apartments which are
directly or indirectly under lease from the gahment* (99-999 yrs).
Only a small percentage are free hold (which I don't know whether
the gahment can take back or not)
So we work all our lives to so call buy something that doesn't
belong to us... So my question is, "what is this all about?"
That naturally extends the thought to the meaning of our
existence... and that we're all going to die someday... and again,
leads me to think, "what's it all about?"
So what if we made an impact in somebody elses life, had meaningful
friendships, flew first class flights to Amsterdam, smoked weed and
hired man-whores, rode on the maiden voyage on the Titanic or on
Queen Elizabeth II on a cruise of the Carrebean, or won an
arguement and had our balls licked by a myriad of people? so
what?
Is it just about the journey and not the destination? Is this the
only way to think so at least have some meaning to our
existence?
* did you know: Real Estate actually means Royal (Spanish) Estate,
which means that land owned by the King or Gahment (in our
context)
