how about the "feet" of the mouse?
take a sheet of used paper, place on the table, force the mouse on
the sheet of paper and forcefully move the mouse across the
sheet...
that should remove the gunk stuck to the "feet"
sometimes that could be the cause of the erratic movement of the
cursor
