zozo SG

What's a felafel?

Rhonda SG

OK, let's see...

You have the 'Wicked Witch' but, hmm... there's no 'Wicked Wizard', right? Unless you're talking about Saudor of LOTR... but that's one against so many other illustrious wicked witches! Twisted Evil

And then, there was Wu Zhe Tian. But she has competition from Qin Shi Huang (the cruel Emperor who built the Great Wall of China) and Hitler...

Shakespeare says it best... "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned!"

Rhonda SG

'Felafel' is an Israeli food. It's actually a stuffing for pita bread and it "could be made in two ways: either as it is in Egypt today, from crushed, soaked fava beans or fava beans combined with chickpeas, spices, and bulgur; or, as Yemenite Jews and the Arabs of Jerusalem did, from chickpeas alone".

You can learn more here : http://www.myjewishlearning.com/culture/food/IsraeliFood/FalafelRecipe.htm

Rhonda SG

OK, the book that Bear's talking about :

http://www.duffyandsnellgrove.com.au/titles/he_died.htm

Didn't know that they've made it into a movie too!

It sounds like a great book... might pick it up and read it sometime.

laurence82 SG

Ancient Egyptians make their bread really oily and greasy, because they need alot of energy to build the pyramids.

Not much meat tho, but the river goose will be a delicacy...
