I guess you're referring to movies that are big on the bangs,
the rat-a-tat-tat's, and the ka-kabooms, but other than that,
there's kinda like no plot at all! 
There are quite a number of Hollywood blockbusters that are exactly
like that, and they would usually have big stars as lead actors and
actresses too.
However, for Titanic, aside from the lousy casting and ridiculous
pairing of the two leads, I appreciated the movie for the extent
the Director, James Cameron, went to to replicate the real ship,
down to the cutlery! That's amazing!
And also, the fact that he did his research and actually sent a
real team down to film footages of the real Titanic. The footages
he made from those deep sea excursions were later released as a
movie, erm... forgotten the title already.
