Left-Hand Drive Car in Singapore?! 8-O

Last night, I actually spotted a Left-Hand Drive car on our roads! It was a capsule car but on its back was a white sticker with red words stating, 'Left-Hand Drive' so I scrutinised the car as I went by and whoa! Shocked ... it really was a left-hand drive car! Its licence plate starts with 'RD'.

Are such cars allowed on our roads? I'm pretty surprised cause this is the first time I've seen such a car on our roads!

i know one of them is a showcase for Mercedes-Benz, showing off their hybrid engine..

some are military vehicles...

Most of them are driven, with permission and the said label, by visiting foreigners.

it's a singapore registered car...

RD.. i think it's special vehicles for restricted use.. sorta like some cars are only allowed to be used on Sentosa..

most of them are diplomat cars frm embassies

saw 1 or 2 LHD american cars in the vicinity of the US embassy.

as a sign of goodwill ? their cars are usually allowed in despite the fact they are LHD.

oh yah, i always get reminded by tis incident,

1.5L auto car overtaking a 3.0L LHD SUV
Laughing ok fine, they cant/dont travel fast.

You wouldn't want to when the driver's seating position feels rather odd and your view is compromised. Not to forget that your passenger steps out onto the road instead of the pavement.

i know. but why would they feel odd since they do drive like this(LHD) in US for example?

As the driver you're now no longer positioned closer to the divider and the pavement's right next to you; and you have to rely on the far mirror to check the faster lane.

LHD cars:

1.Diplomatic vehicles
2.Restricted usage, esp specialised construction vehicles and military vehicles
3.Models in export processing zones( they should not be out in the first place)
4.Tourists..( I saw a UK rego MB280SL at Centerpoint a few years back...plate was eg. WYH XXX K)

Yeah..unless its a seasoned diplomat.Saw a LHD Lexus ES300 cut from left lane to right outside Tanglin Mall without any probs man... Shocked

I saw a few Left-Hand car on the road before, but very seldom....

as long as with authority approval, it should be fine on the road.

Back in Military, my veh is left hand drive.....after a while, get use to it already...whether, left or right side of the road.... Rolling Eyes

Yes, they are allowed, STK armoured vehicles manufactured in singapore are also LHDs. Laughing
