oh dear...
sounds pretty typical
actually, even if you give them a system which is good, they will
turn it into a mess...
i actually was part of a team which UAT'ed the heck out of a
system.. as in, we actually took close to 3 months for the initial
system, and 2 for the upgrade.. and there were still little bugs
which were fixed..
when it was handed over, the senior management who didn't know how
it was built, added a LOT of stuff on it.. now it's slow as all
heck...
oh well... there will be another system soon.. i was made to go to
the "training" and "UAT" (how can you UAT a system in 1/2 day??!!)
and they could not answer what i called the "acid test" question:
is this going to make things easier or is this just going to add to
my workload?
from their hesitation and their inability to answer the question,
it was clear they never asked this question from the start... and
suddenly realised they were putting a system which will add to the
workload..
then came the big one: i asked if they had a clue what we were
going to use the system for, and the enormity of our workload, they
were stunned.. i dragged them to the office where we had to work
with the system, they were almost shocked speechless at the things
we had to do each shift.. and were pretty quiet after that

well, senior management decision... we're going to use the damned
system.. come hell or high water... you'll probably see a very
stressed bear somewhen in Sept
