Rhonda SG Oh, on a recent trip to the States, from Narita en route there, there was major turbulence! It was frightening! A few times, the plane dipped and my stomach floated up as my body sank faster than my insides! hahaha! Know that feeling? Happens in those super-fast elevators in those posh office buildings too. Anyways, the poor hostesses were trying to serve us drinks and one of them almost ended up in some passenger's lap cause the turbulence was that bad. Me? I was looking out the window and imagining that Twilight Zone show where a man on board a flight saw a Gollum-like creature trying to damage the wing of the plane. Ultimately, it doesn't pay to watch horror movies, I tell you!
[email protected] SG ooooo. When we went to Thailand back in 2003, there was a HUGE dip which lasted about 3 seconds. People screamed. We hit some really bad air pocket apparently. But I enjoyed it
Rhonda SG On that flight, there were a few instances where I gripped on to the armrest of my seat, closed my eyes, and said Grace. I think we had two or three of those dips you mentioned. I really thought, 'This is the end!'
Gedanken SG I got into St Louis just ahead of the Kansas tornados in 2003. that was fun - tha plane was actually going sideways as it was approaching the runway.
Gedanken SG Speaking of praying, my preflight prayer is simple: "Dear Lord, if they can't be intelligent, please let them be silent". I do a simple calculation whenever I land. As long as (number of takeoffs) - (number of landings) = 22, I can live with it.
foxwalk SG I enjoyed takeoffs and landings too. I've only tried Air China (too young to recollect anything, around 11), British Airways and Thai Airways. BA was pretty ok, I enjoyed the flight. Thai Airways was a semi nightmare, when it was trying to land, I felt nauseous.
elindra SG Hmmm I always get really good service from them and no scary flights yet. They are always so accomodating
KittynMeow SG took Thai Airways once and the stewards and stewardesses thought I was Thai... spoke to me in Thai and offered me Thai newspapers.....even when i asked for the English papers...
LazerLordz SG I love Japan Airlines and Valuair. The latter lands much more smoothly than SIA flights.Royal Brunei Airlines are not to bad either..Inflight entertainment means nothing to me.Give me a sleeping pill and il sleep the flight through.
Faye Valentine SG i've always fly with SIA for flights in and out of Australia...but the incident you mention here is really too much...too insensitive
Faye Valentine SG Yup. agree with SL on this. Tried Qantas/BA once. halfway thru the flight i tell myself i am never gona fly with them again. Really dislike the service. SIA still scores with their almost excellent service on board. But yea... from what Ged said, it is really disappointing Flew with Malaysian Airline when i went France. The turbulence was really scary.. the landing was too... food was alright..service could have been better. Same goes to Garuda and Thai. JAL was one of the better one that could match up with SIA in terms of inflight services.
SydneyLibrarian SG What about Emirates.. anyone tried that yet? They’ve been winning service awards for the past couple of years… am curious to know what’s so good about them!
