Loki is not like
other cats, since she's got two large canine teeth that peek out
from her mouth and give her a vampire look. But underneath the
sharpness is a sweet disposition.
Kaetlyn, Loki's
owner, first met the kitty while she was working at Chittenden
County Humane Society in Burlington, Vermont. Loki had to be kept
away from other animals because they were attacking her, and she
took to hiding in areas of an office.
"I first saw her peeking out of a desk drawer she'd weaseled
into," Kaetlyn told The Huffington Post in an email Thursday. "She
wasn't happy to see me, and according to the staff she really
didn't like anyone but a select few employees. For whatever reason
I felt drawn to her sweet face despite our bad first impressions,
and I adopted her soon after. For the next few months she avoided
me as much as possible and hid under my bed."
Loki eventually grew to trust her owner. She became the "most
affectionate cat" Kaetlyn has ever had, and now follows her around
the house.
"As for her unique look, the only thing the shelter addressed
was her eye that didn't close," she said. "They said it was healthy
but she wasn't able to close it. She's been to the vet three times
in the last year, and no one has made mention of her teeth or why
she looks the way she does. Still a mystery."
