Will
we be left behind without driverless taxis? NO
If
there going to be equally good replacement jobs if 55,000 purely
Singaporean jobs are lost? NO [Don't think driverless taxis will ever replace
all existing taxis. It will be offered as an alternative
alongside standard taxis].
What
could Singaporeans do if more Singaporeans are retrenched and
55,000 purely Singaporean taxi drivers jobs are lost?
??????
Who
gains from introduction of driverless taxis? Mostly
foreigners.[Not sure about
this]
Who
loses from introduction of driverless taxis?
Singaporeans.[Not Singaporean
passengers. They might benefit cos no more winding down
windows to ask for destination, no more hiding for calls, no more
change shift Chinatown...haha].
Why
till now only trains are the only driverless vehicles being
implemented in public places? Because there are no traffic
on their path and they are 100% safe as driverless vehicles.
Even little traffic on the path commercial planes are deemed as not
safe without human control.
Can driverless cars go at 90 km/h
safely in all weather? No [ They do not need to go at 90km/h. All
weather? Singapore only Sunny and Rainy. No snow, no
typhoons, no hurricanes..so no problem].
Can
driverless cars handle wheel chairs and weak passengers?
No [No problem. Pax will
understand beforehand and will help load themselves].
Car
driverless cars help with luggages? No [No problem. Pax can load themselves.
They will understand. You mean currently, the taxi unker got
come out and help meh? hehe].
Can
driverless cars handle problems at parking lot gantry points if
there are malfunctions? No [New IUs don't need car park gantries. Car
parks can be zoned as what is known as Geofencing in the GPS
lingo].
Can
driverless cars take simple instructions like stop beside the Green
Car after the shelter? No [If pax knows it is driverless, they will NOT
give such instructions in the first place. Will key in the exact
drop off point].
Can
driverless cars handle road blockages? No [Yes. Technologically possible with
advanced sensors].
Can
driverless cars handle all carparks scenarios?
No [As mentioned
above].
Can
driverless cars deal with fare evaders? No [Driverless cars no cash payments. All through
credit cards lah like Uber. Alamak].
Can
driverless cars be easilly trapped on the road or in the carpark?
Yes...you just have to put one cone in front and one cone at
the back for it to be trapped.[ Pax
are not stupid. They can come out and remove the cones.
If got no pax on board and on the way to pick up point, at
most no show only wat. Nobody gets hurt. Not like current
taxis dun have no show oso...].
Can
driverless cars handle the instructions of marshallers at places
like hotels and airports? [Why
need marshallers. Everything is through call booking.
No street hail. Pax cannot give instructions to
marshallers instead?]
Can
driverless cars handle a situation like lane diversion on
expressways (two lanes blocked due to accident) ?
[Yes. Technologically possible
in the future].
Can driverless cars handle
police road blockages and nagvigate through newly created obstacle
paths ? No [Yes.
Technologically possible in the future].

What
could Singaporeans do if more Singaporeans are retrenched and
55,000 purely Singaporean taxi drivers jobs are lost? ??????
Think
about what white collar Singaporeans could do if they are
retrenched (especially those after the age of 45) or their company
say I want you to be stationed in Africa or rural parts of Asia
(and they resign because want to be closer to family members and
not affect kids lives). Think about potential poverty,
selling of current house because unable to service loans, potential
increased crime rates, loss of businesses for retail shops,
coffeeshops, supermarkets and so on.
Who
gains from introduction of driverless taxis? Mostly
foreigners.[Not sure about this]
Because
they manufacture cars in their own countries (or another cheaper
country) and R&D mostly in their own countries. If
got R&D in another country, it is mostly for show as they want
to penetrate those countries.
Who loses from
introduction of driverless taxis?
Singaporeans.[Not
Singaporean passengers. They might benefit cos no more
winding down windows to ask for destination, no more hiding for
calls, no more change shift Chinatown...haha].
Remember
LTA rule for taxi drivers is "cannot reject customers unless during
'end-shift time' ". Probably we could stretch a little and
reject people going to cemetery during 2am or reject
people who seem like could rape or rob us or seems like carrying
explosives and that is it.
But as self-employed,
we have the rights not to take calls if we deem it is not in our
best interest with the understanding that once we have accepted a
call, we definitely would have to take it and must drive all the
way there before we could cancer it. [ in other words, if don't
want to take that call, don't bid for it and let your peers have
the chance to take it]
Why

safely in all weather? No [ They do not need to go at 90km/h. All

Our road max speed
limit is 90 km/h. Rain time cut down to 50-80 km/h.
Sometimes heavy rain time go at 30-40 km/h. Do we want to put
Singaporeans at risk or do we prefer them to perfect their
technologies first before we even consider investing lots of money
into it? Otherwise the answer in future would be.....right
now no choice because we already invested lots of money into
it....right now too late to revert back to old system. So
best way is "let
them implement in their countries successfully first before we
decide whether to implement driverless cars".
Can driverless cars
handle wheel chairs and weak passengers?
No [No problem.
Pax will understand beforehand and will help load
themselves]. So why LTA (through
Singapore Taxi Academy ) made every taxi driver learn how to handle
wheel chairs and even video taped us during examination
time.
Car driverless cars
help with luggages? No [No problem. Pax can load themselves.
They will understand. You mean currently, the taxi unker got
come out and help meh? hehe]. A lot of times,
many taxi drivers got help OK.
Can driverless cars
handle problems at parking lot gantry points if there are
malfunctions? No [New IUs don't need car park gantries. Car
parks can be zoned as what is known as Geofencing in the GPS
lingo]. Hello, our country
just invested in a lot installing gantries point all over
Singapore. Also a lot shopping mall and offices have spent a
lot of money installing such gantries all over
Singapore.
Can driverless cars
take simple instructions like stop beside the Green Car after the
shelter? No [If pax knows it is driverless, they will NOT
give such instructions in the first place. Will key in the exact
drop off point]. It proves that they
are not able to handle human requirements (drop off point should be
exactly where customers want so that there is minimum
walking).
Can
driverless cars handle road blockages? No [Yes. Technologically possible with
advanced sensors].No
currently so let them implement in their countries successfully
first before we decide whether to implement driverless cars.
[ This one not matter of sensors, this one a matter of
machine very stupid requires a lot of instructions fed to it to be
able to handle it. Marvin Misky could tell you more about
this how long it took the CS world to get a machine to be a little
bit "intelligent" ]
Can
driverless cars handle all carparks scenarios?
No [As mentioned
above]. No
currently so let them implement in their countries successfully
first before we decide whether to implement driverless
cars.
Can driverless cars
deal with fare evaders? No [Driverless cars no cash payments. All through
credid cards lah like Uber. Alamak].
We Singaporeans prefer to handle using cash.
Our system (which is not foreign Uber system) does not allow
us to know before hand how much the cost is. A person could
easilly exit the taxi without paying. When talk about
preferred payment method, you as taxi driver knows Singaporeans
prefer to pay by Cash. On certain days, you may even get all
cash payments. I never had a day of all cashless payments
(now that I said this, I may suddenly have a lot of customers going
for cashless payments).
Can driverless cars
be easilly trapped on the road or in the carpark? Yes...you
just have to put one cone in front and one cone at the back for it
to be trapped.[ Pax are
not stupid. They can come out and remove the cones. If
got no pax on board and on the way to pick up point, at most no
show only wat. Nobody gets hurt. Not like current taxis dun
have no show oso...]. What happens if
pretend to hail, driverless taxi stop, then put two cones
there?
Can driverless cars
handle the instructions of marshallers at places like hotels and
airports? [Why
need marshallers. Everything is through call booking.
No street hail. Pax cannot give instructions to
marshallers instead?] You go hotel,
casino, airport, Marina Bay Cruise center, need to follow
instructions of marshallers or not?
Can
driverless cars handle a situation like lane diversion on
expressways (two lanes blocked due to accident) ?
[Yes. Technologically possible
in the future]. No
currently so let them implement in their countries successfully
first before we decide whether to implement driverless
cars.
Can driverless cars handle
police road blockages and nagvigate through newly created obstacle
paths ? No [Yes.
Technologically possible in the future]
No currently so let them implement in their countries successfully
first before we decide whether to implement driverless
cars.
Remember you are pushing for humans adjusting to meet machines
limitations and machines eliminating humans rather than helping
humans.
What I am saying is we
let those car manufacturing countries that stand to gain from
driverless cars implement in their own countries first (since they
are the ones that really need driverless cars as their taxi cost
are too high and they could make a profit from driverless cars)
before we decide whether to implement or not.
We can survive without a single driverless
taxis in Singapore unlike our manufacturing factories that cannot
survive without robots.
Even
the universities that want higher university ranking could afford
not to research into this sector as our country does not have the
industry to support this industry. And this R&D takes
money from the people that generates the money and eliminates these
that generates the money (COE, rental GST, personal income tax, tax
from 5 companies' profits with a hugh amount coming from taxi
rental). Remember the unversity ranking thing is only an
intangible benefit and not a real benefit.
