Please refer to the Notice of Traffic Offence served on me dated 15
November 2015.
Brief Facts of the Accident
2 On
(date) there was a chain collision involving FOUR vehicles, namely,
( ). On the
material day of the accident there was a heavy downpour along the
Pan Island Expressway and visibility was affected by the heavy
rain.
3. I wish to
appeal against the traffic summon against me for the following
reasons:
(a) Brake was not effective.
I
wish to state that upon seeing the front vehicle (registration no.)
came to halt along the PIE, i applied brake but my vehicle
(registration no.) continued to move forward until it collided with
the front vehicle (registration no.). Prior to that, i had
maintained a safe distance between the front vehicle and my
vehicle. I was at all time traveling within the road speed limit of
90 km/hr.
(b) Lack of thorough police investigation
To the best of my knowledge, the vehicle i was driving was
not tow back to Traffic Police for investigation. As such the
Police cannot rule out mechanical fault instead of human's error or
omission as the cause of the accident. I also observed that the
Investigation Officer did not record a long statement from me. It
is possible that no statements were recorded from all parties
involved.
(c) Relevant and Admissible Evidence
I
am instructed that the damages to the front of my vehicle and the
other taxi show that while i had exercised proper lookout and
applied brake before the collision, the other taxi driver failed to
do so. As a result the damages to the front of the other taxi were
far more intensive and extensive (see photos attached).
(d) Compassionate grounds
As a result of this accident i had to pay cash of $2040
towards the insurance claim by the driver of the first car.
Additionally i suffered loss of income from not able to drive my
taxi for (number of days). I humbly submit that this is sufficient
punishment for me.
(e) Clean driving record
Prior to this accident I have maintained a clean driving
record since I obtained my driving license on 7 May
1996.
For the reasons highlighted above, I sincerely implore you to
