SINGAPORE: The Land Transport Authority (LTA) on Tuesday (Mar 8)
announced it will extend the operating hours of Full-Day Bus Lanes
by three hours.
From Mar 21, the lanes will operate from 7.30am to 11pm, the LTA
said in its press release. Previously, the operating hours ended at
8pm.
The LTA said this will help shorten travel times for commuters
during late evening periods.
There are 23 kilometres of such lanes which operate on weekdays and
Saturdays, excluding public holidays, and they are mainly located
in the city centre.

Separately, the agency said it will implement the Bus Priority Box,
also known as the Mandatory Give Way to Buses scheme, at two bus
stops along Orchard Road. This is part of a six-month trial to
evaluate its usefulness at bus stops without bus bays, it
said.
The bus stops are opposite Mandarin Orchard and Midpoint
Orchard. There are currently 332 bus stops with Bus Priority
Boxes since it was first introduced in 2008, LTA said.
It added that it will use the findings of this six-month trial to
determine if the scheme should be applied for similar bus stops in
other locations.
