Alamak, this is old rule lah...

Since January 2013, the rule where taxis cannot stop along roads in CBD where buses ply and can only stop at designated stands has been rescinded. Taxis can now stop anywhere in the CBD except for the usual prohibited areas such as double yellow zig zag lines, within 9m of bus stops and along bus lanes during the bus lanes operation hours etc...

Q1 So is it normal car can stop and pickup/drop off near traffic lights?

Q2 You all never experience when you waiting for traffic lights to turn green, pax suddenly just want to drop off, or a new pax just open door and come up? Is it an offence or not?

It is not I purposely stop there to drop off or take pax.

Seems like nobody knows the answer here. I know that if not caught do anything is ok, but why not just share your experience is it offence or not, so many cams nowadays. What you do when Q2 happens, tell pax cannot drop off? Reject new pax ask him go down?

Happened twice...

1st CCK Loop.

Pax to lot 1. Was waiting for pedestrian to clear the zebra crossing when pax say, I stop here, I said cannot..zebra crossing cannot let down pax huan...she ignore and threw the fare at me without collecting the changes..few weeks down the rd..got a summon from LTA (CCTV) for dropping pax at zebra crossing, this is despite the fact that pedestrians have not finished crossing and my pax is already long gone.

2nd Upper Serangoon Rd, Slip rd to nex, traffic controlled junction.

Waiting for light to turn green..pax got up...2 week later..letter come..again CCTV...

One of the place, very popular with pax trying to board when you stop for traffic light is orchard rd bus stop outside Plaza Sing..LTA everyday there take pic..when you stop for lights, the pax will run up to ur cab,,depite not being in the bus lane..the lta will ready his cam, taking your pic as soon as you allow the pax to board.

But hor..I see one very rich cabby from CDG...jin satki...he drop pax in front of the LTA guy and dun even blink...the LTA guy snap snap snap...the pax also slowly slowly get down....

Thanks for your answer fifufu. This is what I was asking. I do know cannot stop near traffic light, but it is the passenger themselve want to come up or drop off and cause trouble.

How to deal with those people who insist to drop down next time?

Those pax auto got up into the cab while you waiting for traffic, how you reject them or prevent that from happening again?

If normal car drop/pickup people at traffic light also offence right? Or the LTA officer close one eye?

Immediately after traffic light/junction/zebra crossing is it still cannot pickup/drop off?

Anyone know how near/far distance cannot/can drop off/pickup at traffic light/junction/zebra crossing?

Long ago, when I was a TD and now still a TD, driving was a breeze then, today, haiz, with so much this cannot stop, there cannot drop, that also cannot pick..it is getting more and more stressful to be a TD in one of the most advance road system in the world.

just lock to door and tell the passenger to drop of at taxi stand. if the passenger refuse to do it just stop in the middle of the road at traffic light junction. passenger complain taxi company know what to do. or else have a cam point at back and have voice recording on in case things happend show it taxi compnay or appeal to LTA.

But nite also got nite hazard, like drunkers, farkers, druggers, fare evaders and fast car drivers. So, give and take, it is back to sq one.

Well, as long as you drive within the limit, pick and drop at the right places, should not be an issue on the right and wrong, most hirers are looking for nite reliefs, that tell you many preferred day shift.

Junction is it within 6 meters cannot stop to pickup/dropoff? More than 6 meters can.
