Sg mah…
Td mostly looked down upon.
but if you looked closely at TD behaviour..
They deserved it..
A lot no class. Drives like no brain on the road.
Eat meal like so fast…
Cannot forgo that few dollars.
All that behaviour reflects badly on them.
Go geylang can see all the patterns.
TD is not a prestigous job but not-too-bad last option for many
Singaporeans.
Where got drive like no brains? Only a small percentage.
TD in fact are the most skilled in driving and most
knowledgeable about routes in Singapore when cannot rely on
GPS.
Eat fast because know very well the theory "Time is Money" so
many maximize time within 12 hours (otherwise the cheap $3 meal
becomes like a $15 meal). All not so Ho Mia like employees
who are given 1 hour for lunch.
Most TDs do not care too much about image and go for money and
comfort (notice most TDs do not wear leather shoes but wear track
shoes when track shoes cost more than leather shoes).
TDs make tough money driving long hours, have no bonuses, have
no CPFs, have no leaves, have no medical leaves and have to pay
rentals even on Sundays.
Those that look down on TDs may one day find themselves in the
same shoes as good jobs are hard to find after the age of 45.
Worse still, they may find themselves not as capable in taxi
driving as people they once looked down upon despite having 20+
years of driving experience.
