the normal taxis driver, it will be more on limo drivers, both pte
and companies, might get less booking due to UberX.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Uber X is exactly the same as booking a
taxi. With smart phone apps, booking become simple
and easy and pax can track the location of the taxi.
If Uber X rates is competitive (No
airport/location/CBD,midnight/ booking surcharge), pax will use
this option than taxi.
Uber X is taking the share of taxi booking and taxi trip
especially when there is surcharge apply.
Each Uber X trip, Uber will take 20% instead of normal taxi
booking of $0.30 or $0.40. Will Uber want to waste time with
Uber taxi?
Imagine 1000 Uber X car, each avg income $200 per
day, Uber income is $40k per day or $1.2 Mil per mth. No
investment, just be a middle man. Isnt this good money? Good money,
more play will come in. In fact, Grab taxi is working on their
cashless payment. Once it is accepted and popular with pax, grab
car will be the next to compete with Uber X.
1000 Uber X car is only less than 4% of the taxi
population. $200 a day is the minimum income a
TD to cover the rental, diesel and minimum earning.
Uber is giving incentive to Uber taxi to let
pax familiarize to their apps and improve
their supply their vehicles avaialble. But
Uber will push for the Uber X simply it is their cash cow.
If Uber X is to stay, it means that now booking taxi service is
available without the need for taxi licence and TDVL licence. What
is the value of these licences? No need TDVL, it means PR and
foreigners can become TD? Only Singaporean can be TD, No more
true. What is the authority for? Isnt it clear who is going to be
affected?
If the situtation not going to manage well, a foreign company
which has no direct investment in the taxi industry is going to
change the taxi game in Singapore in the near future.
