Do you usually press GPS finish, then start moving? I see most taxi like once the pax door closed start moving already.

Singapore got thousands of traffic lights. When stop at first red light which is usually fairly quickly, then check lor...but ask first lah...pax usually will tell you common areas like Bt Timah, East Coast rd etc....

then enter sunset square liao ask her where ah

She tell the unit number n expected me to find myself she blur act

So I slowly drive to find the number lor then stop at one pte hse n the maid waiting outside to carry her bags

Saw inside the hse got afew "big cars" parked no wonder she chut pattern lol

Wenever I go sunset way I remember tis incident....

This type yaya papaya type, then you take your time, make her pay more. SG got many funny road names very similar one - sunset ave is not in sunset way but greenwood area right?

Sommerville Rd & sommerville estate road also different area. But Watten Rd and Watten Estate Rd same area.

Then Mugliston, Seraya, etc. Even Leonie Hill different from Leonie Hill Road. Why like that ah?

Got I kena Thong Soon Green and brought pax to Thomson Green. Never knew got a place call Thong Soon Green also, lol

Everytime u do not know the place and pax also do not know the road, tell them, you check with yr map/google/gps first. If pax not happy and said driver should know, then ask her to take another cab.

Problem arises is alway due to communication, some atas pax never want to help the poor driver, poor driver get agitated with anxiety, and when the sentence, “you taxi driver dunno the road meh” come out of pax mouth, it hit the nail right into the taxi professional. In pychologically speaking, it hurt the driver pride and confident.

But brothers, dun get fool or agitated or sad by all these, a cook cannot know all the dishes, non does a doctor can cure all illness, so taxi drivers are no different.

As long as you remain calm, steady and communicate nicely, the pax got no way to get into you, however, it is alway at this juncture, cabby getting irritated, may express his word wrongly to pax leading to complaint and unhappy paxs.

Miss, I am so sorry, I am new, do not know the place well, since you are unable to lead me or help, it is best you take another cab. Thank you.

LTA position, Use street directory. In TDVL regulation, your taxi need to have a latest copy of street directory, therefore, there is no such thing call you dont know.

Street directory are not update as per se, Singapore, as you all know, change it landscape fastest than most other asian nation. Therefore, there are new roads, new small roads that may not be stated..so in such circumstances, if the paxs also dunno, and the TD also dunno, it is best to tell the truth, nevermind the complaint as long as there is no fare taken, nor any distance travelled.

Today, we hv lots of different nationality in Singapore, rivervale alone, some foreigners pronounced as river valley, some, like the japanese prounounced it as deepavali, and the famous FT ah Neh all prounounce it as Levis V, and when you come to vietcong, khmer rouge and some ulu china provinces accents…god bless you. That is one hazard driver face, can talk for 10 minutes in the cab, but still cannot get the road right…

Recently took 3 vietcong chio bu…up cab at Joo Chiat said…Samulu….for me, there is a pulau semulu..jurong shipyard is there, talk and talk until they call their friend and pass the hp to me, and their friend also talk to be in viet language…alamak, tell them to fark off…until one of them show sign of praying…then I come to know, it is Si mah road kwanyin temple…

SG although very small, certain area maybe after driving for 10, 20 years also no chance to go in, nobody bring mah.....

Is understandable if don't know.....

But if famous landmarks or icon also don't know how to go, than got to be shot liao......

Put in some effort to learn all those landmarks and new buildings.....

As for roads, the longer hour you drive, the more expert you will be, no easy way out.....

I drive 10 months still need GPS leh. But not full time OMO, only nights.

So many many small streets, roads, buildings,etc, etc, how to remember all? Only can remember those places you always go to and major roads and expressways. know most places in CBD because always go there but other areas definitely need GPS.

For example, Woodlands got so many aves, drives, streets, it is still a maze to me. One-north simi polis completely blurr also.Bukit batok is totally confusing, tuas & jurong west also bewildering. So many other areas, buildings and roads never heard of one.

I think a TD will need at least 5 years to 10 years experience to know most of the places and buildings in SG.

Ya depends on individual. My tiong TD from day one blur blur and I have to teach him some basic hokkien and places with old times name. After half a year his road knowledge almost 80% liao

In singapore its quite impossible because their is lots of traffic signals you can easily find out your way still if it happen with me than i'll use GPS

With good road knowledge is the best, save you lots of stress and anxiety and time. Therefore, if can try not to depend on yr GPS too much, it can become an addict of it, and when that happen, nearly every place also use it, even place you been there thrice before.

On the other hands, singapore got lots of one way street, if you are able to learn it by your finger tips, you can move around without much problem, for this, some GPS also never tell you, you might end up unable to turn due to no Entry and therefore, need to make a detour, which might waste yr time and stress u up…furthermore, pax may not be happy.

Easy if u take wrong road just stop meter and tell psx ur not charging them reach correct road then only start meter. Pax also happy u also happy.cos although meter stop the waiting time still running!

Non peak time, if nearby, go explore the road you not familiar with.....

Like currently, Seletar Aerospace a lot of new road in use liao, go drive a few round.....

This is what we call anticipation of situation, in case next pax want to go SA, ho seh, very familiar liao, won't kan the wrong hole.....

How I master Bukit Timah/Holland area last time, go in round and round and explored la, who will teach you?.....

Explored all the short cut and at the same time, read the road name by hard.....

ok, exercise time, From Greenwood, how to short cut to Watten Estate without coming out to main road? From Sixth Ave, how to short cut to Empress Market to jiak kopi without using main road?......

Still got many, can pass this 2 question meaning you are thinking hard, good......
