As transport bus fare had increased after so many meetings, the
likelihood of taxis meter fare increases is on the way, this was
what my initial arguement/proposal for cdg since january.
TD income in Singapore is lacking behind inflationary rates that
had ballooned in recent years, most companies in last and this year
pay increment had been around 5% and more, coupled with variables
like bonuses, taxi drivers who had slogged with long hours of
working (driving), their income need to move up to counter
inflation so as to remain sustainable and yet relevant to the high
cost of living and working in Singapore, simply to put it, you
cannot expect taxi driver income to remain status quo when even
chap chai rice had already gone up from $2.50 to $4.00 or more.
From a taxi driver perspective, cost of operative had gone up,
as such, with cost of income going up in tandem with cost of
operation (rental and fuel prices), the income of taxi driver is no
different from 1990, in 1990, you can make $3,000, in 2014 you can
also make $3000 per month, but the cost of surviving had gone up
tremedously
