Strange may it sounds, this is true.

Fare hikes is caused by the companies increasing the rental. So TDs will only help to collect money from pax to pay to companies. End of thee day TD earn nothing.

You see the higher flag down for smlj new expensive car models. Pax pay more but the TD also pay more rental. I believe this is root of the problem commuters are facing now.

I will leave it to our resident chief economist KTCLuckLuckLuck or NTA director Mr. Bowah to explain better about this. :)

Taxi fares hikes, pax will siam taxi totally or partially.....

Whether temperory siam or forever siam, hardest hit will still be the TD.....

Bo Lang take taxi, give you 1 trip $100 also no use.....

So your previous experience tell you that the previous fares hike in 2011 is does not benefit TD. if the fares hike in 2011 does not happen, u should be doing better now.

My experience in fare hike is even way before 2011.....

Taxi driving use to be very simple.....

Take key, start engine, once on the road, everywhere pax la.....

Meter fare so cheap nia, rental also reasonable, diesel kan si lang cheap, have you ever pump $0.58/litre before?..... $20 1 whole shift still got chun.....but do we TD earn a lot? No, because meter fare so cheap nia.....

Don't tell me inflation hor, taxi driving never have inflation 1, only thing we got is up, up, up nia, but pattern of driving is always the same until today, sweep, take call or queue......

If you can understand what I mean.....

Unless you telling me, fare increase, rental decrease, diesel decrease, than this is what we call changes.....

actually no need to be so complex for the taxi system. some one has to give way for another one will do. LTA should reduce ERP price during peak hours for taxi driver to get in to the CBD area people waiting there should able to get taxi for them. and it is the greedy of LTA to has coe on taxi and do not view it as a public transport. also why people complain so much? because some older taxi drivers has no brain operarting the taxi or think too much.

So complains plus greedy plus no brian mean problems for every body.

Exempt ERP charges for taxi. Abolish CBD surcharge, 25%peak surcharge and smlj surcharges.

Just keep the 50% midnight surcharge plus maybe bring back holiday surcharge.

Flagdown should be higher, maybe $4 for normal taxi.

Complexity leads to job creation, you want LTA scholars and staffs to loose their job ar? Some people, especially our govt, like to make thing complex, being complex, it makes people look blur and stupid, and at the same time, able to sell their koyo that end up making peoples think they are smart and clever so as to hold on to their high paid job?

Simplicity creates a void, a space that can lead to complacency due to stagnation of life and movement of economy. In any govt policies, it is alway a dual process, one creates a need for full understanding, the other creates a way to earn more taxes or income. To understand, you need to gather information, you need to TCSS< you need to explain, you need to argue, and you need to prove your point and you might even need to attend courses or visit taxi office to listen to those lau ka po teaching, that create a vibrant economy, a churning one that moves, you got that picture?

Inflation only goes up. What you wanted below is only can happen in your dream.

the bottom line is whether yr income increase. but the fact remain that with the fares hikes, it attract many more TD which included many younger TD.

In view of the statistics, the fares hikes did has impact to the TD as it has attracted more ppl to become TD.

You expect the fares to remain before 2007 level ?

If this is the case, TD income will reduce substantially.

How is it possible to has a significant reduced income in 2007 level to sustain the cost of living today?

Such argument will never stand.
