PTC only regulates bus and train fares now. Taxi fares have been
deregulated since 1998. Taxi Operators are free to set their own
fares. Consequent to this was the liberalisation of the taxi
industry in 2002 to allow more taxi operators.
The taxi companies can set $10 flag down fare and meter jump $1
every 400m if they like. Of course, no pax will take their taxi and
in turn, they will have no drivers renting the taxi from them..at
least, in theory only.
Like bowah had said on our Goberment way of doing "business",
u believe PTC clean their hand off on taxi?....
Only taxi drivers like us will gong gong trying to defend
ourself, when rules and regulation not even set by us.....
In hokkien term, we call this "tua pek gong".....
Let's say your meter start up is $3.90, just collect la, pax ask
or question, print receipt and tell him to go ask company la, why
go and block the bullet?.....
That bullet suppose to be aiming at the authority 1
hor......
