"Revenue and operating profit from our overseas
taxi business accounted for 25.4% and 38.9% of
total Group taxi revenue and operating profit
respectively."
Can enlighten me this sentence, I'm not from accountant
leh..
Revenue is more of a total gross income without taking the
cost into consideration.
It can including both operating and services revenue, the
increase in shares, owner's equity, values, currency
fluctuation..etc etc. Of course, different companies report
different in their revenue, and that is also why auditing is
neccessary.
As for operating profit, it is more of a core business from
operation, without taking the cost in consideration. There are
companies that reported high revenue and operating profit, but when
substracting the cost, it goes into red.
Let take me as an example, a Taxi drivers
My operating profit is $100 on a half shift driving. But my
revenue can be $110 due to tippings for good services. But if we
take into consideration the cost of operation, which is $50 rental,
$10 foods and $20 on fuel,
I am left of a net revenue of $30 and a net operating profit of
$20. So if I am driving a epica or K5 or any other high rental cab,
even with operating profit and revenue, I may end up losing after
substracting the cost of it. And that also explain why I am poor
and never take up higher rental taxis.
