Taxis in the early morning

I've been wondering for a long time why there are so many taxis at night between 12midnight and, say, 5am. I dont fall asleep easily and often walk around outside (might as well get a little exercise in) and it's so common to see a taxi or five every minute or two.

Since 99.9% of the people are asleep, why are there so many taxis out at this time every early morning?

There's the 50% more surcharge.

And countless teens, like myself, who hang around town or else where till missed the last bus to get home.

Also the clubbers and pubbers.

Some of the taxi can be cater to staff from various place too. Like when I use to work in Airport Terminal 3, the shops closes at 1. So have to take taxu back. Morning shift starts at 6, so have to take taxi go.

oh .... market sellers alot going to market to sell at this time .

Tuas also many people start work at this time .

Hawker also start to go to their store at this time .

Also 5am potentially many people going to the airport .
