Now it's worthwhile to Q for an hour , by the time they got a customer , 12am liao , midnight charge liao .

No luck kena Tampines also got $15.00 .....

Imagine the cabby kena go Jurong West St.91 ? Almost $40 ..... but 50% chance go down City area ( hotel ) depending on flights .... mostly Terminal One the cabbies all Q at ....

British Airways touch down liao .... also i think NorthWest also touch down , and one Qantas .

All ang-mo ..... good chance go down City .

I would say 70% of the cabbies from the Q is daily basis one , they from anywhere in Spore , when time to go up Airport , they will do so . We called it regulars . Or tan-jiak kar .

There would be a big difference for the cabbies... If no one can afford to pay for the rides will mean that no one will take cab... Then the cabbies' families eat what?

Just attended my first (Orientation Class) on line course last night,seeing is believing.

Wow really so many of them. According to the instructor this are not only we are seeing according to her. They had been conducting, many for this volume for the past few weeks.

But just wondering is she telling the true, but over here from you taxi veterans, the stories is totally different, taxis are more pax are less on road and taxi drivers are returning their key one by one...according to this thread. Who is telling the true than.

How can u explain , when i can get from 5pm til 12.45am , my nett salary is $161 ? If there's less paxes , i cannot get nett salary $161 by 12.45am . Not miracle , just hardwork with wits , plus anlalysis .

Every single business , there's a winning formula , i never change my winning formula . I will only change if environment changed , circumstances force the situation to change .

I keep exploring new , better formula .

If i get $160 tonight , i will try to get $160 or more the next day . If i get $150 , i will go home and think why i failed to get $160 , where's my mistakes ? And i will never make the same mistake again !

Best way is to go to the ground and see for yourself... the long q of empty taxi in town area and airport cannot be false right? So i will say business is down (down how much depends on individual) and whether pple return taxi will also depends on pple... but i will say becoming a new hirer is something I will not do now... rather be a relief and monitor....

Why wont that work? Prime cab fees is only ard S$70+- wherelse others ard $90~$100. I know that wont happen. Neither will cab fare readjustment with lower fuel cost. But i am curious as to why wont it work?

Under normal circumstances, quite hard for taxi companies to lower rental when their cost did not do down and every companies has different ways of attracting new hirers unless they really desperate for hirers... but then hor comfort got sonata for much cheaper than crown and yet they charge higher rental for sonata. Damn greedy

of course as a driver i also want to have lower rent without any fare increase.....

How much can they lower ? Discount $5 or ok la $10 , or $15 ? Does that matter alot ?

It does not matter alot to me if got business .... like $150 nett salary per day , Sonata half shift $52 is nothing . $46 for crown is also nothing .

Realistically , $40 rental and $50 , not much of a different to me . Only $20 against $50 rental means alot , but i am realistic , $20 cannot be la .

poolman, a technical question for you. If you have to SAVE TIME or to SAVE DIESEL, which one would you choose? If you have to pick up someone to go somewhere, would you SAVE TIME by travelling the quickest way (may not be the shortest way) or SAVE DIESEL by travelling the shortest way (may not be the quickest way).

Take shortest time route. And even better if the shortest time is longer distance cos fare depends on distance. So you collect more in shortest time...

If you take shortest distance route but take longer time, that is the worst choice for all taxi drivers....

diesel cost is insig compared to time difference and fare difference

Of course save time !! Time is $$$ for me , diesel is not much for trips in S'pore .

Why i say that ?

My cost for diesel is $0.92 (estimate) per 10km .

10km , do u know my meter jump how much ? as in 330m = $0.20 .

I alight my current pax fast , i can pick up another pax , already $3.00 flg down .

My one night diesel cost is about $25-$30 , if peak hour i take 3 $10 trips , my whole night diesel over heads already covered . $10 in City is like from Suntec to Bencoolen , that near , walk also can reached . One hour job .

Time or diesel ?

Time for me , diesel nevermind . Of course , if one way or the other , i can save diesel and time , better still !

If there''s only one choice , time is precious for us .

That's why cabbies always if given a choice , they would go by Expressway if possible , less traffic lights , no jam is the best .

Cabbies hates jam ? U got heard before ? Jam waste time .

Longer route , shorter time , we make $$$ , and won time .

Shorter route , longer time , we make $$$ , but lost time .

Quite hard to express .... only when u are on the road , then u know the ba-woo of time-wasting .

That's why cabbies can be driving very fast at times .... speeding at times .

I have another question. Would you frequent a place whereby there are consistently passengers waiting for taxi BUT the trip are short say 6 - 8SGD per trip and the duration of the trip is avg as per a 6 - 8SGD trip.

I was at AMK Hub recently and noticed that the taxi queue is quite long about 7-12 people within any 1/2 hour time frame from 12pm onwards to about 5pm. Assuming the queue is consistent, would it make sense to continue picking up passenger from the same place if most of the passenger will be only going to AMK area and occassionally to upper thomson, bishan or yio chu kang?

Why ?

Because as u've said , the people all stay around there one .

Yishun , Sengkang , Yio Chu Kang , Hougang , Punggol all dead end one .

Earn $8 averagely , time : almost 30 minutes ( from pick-up of customer , to the time i hit town again )

I rushed down town .... from AMK to ChinaTown 8 minutes .

Gor a booking $3.50 , City Charge $3 , to Sembawang total $26 . Total time used : 45 minutes maximum .

If i go back to AMK Hub , 1 hr i earned only $16 !

I hit town 45 minutes i got $26 .

Which one is good deal ?

Again , day shift and second shift , due to fare structure , one cabby can adopt different strategy .

I am a second shift driver , so i adopt "go-town" earn City Charge philosophy .

Simple and clear-cut .

Same apply to Tampines Mall , i would rather go Airport for the $3-$5 airport surcharge or City

Same apply to WhiteSand , i would rather go Airport once again or City

Same apply to Jurong Point , i would rather go Tuas Industrial Area , or City .

This is one of the winning formula .... There is no unless for me as far as i am concern .

Even if some customer want me to alight them specifically at AMK Hub T/S , i would still not pick anyone from the T/S , i would still rush into town .

How ?

Customer alight liao , straight away put BUSY .

Until inside CBD liao then put to TAXI again .

Like that not illegal , cabby have the right not to pick anyone from the taxi stand , not a must , but must put BUSY to indicate our intention .

Customer complaint no use one ....

i urgent want to go toilet pang jio , can ?

I hungry liao ... stomach glo glo glo liao , must eat , can ?

I eat liao , digestion too fast , wanna go pang-sai , can ?

Anyway , cabby no need to give any reason to anyone , just a simple BUSY , kao tim .
