Based on the above info, I find it unusual to see short lifespans (7 years from its registration) for taxis nowadays.

Wonder why would taxis nowadays would have short lifespans. Why?

And what is the legal lifespan for taxis these days?

it was 7 years all the way.. only a few years back that its extended to 8 years....

now comfort taxis 5 years old ....... straight go scrap yard .

Why ?

1)5 years ago , COE expensive , they got better COE rebates after scrap .

2)The older the diesel engines , the costlier the maintainance .

3) Now COE very cheap , like $10k plus for a COE i heard , don't commit now , commit when ?

4) Competition reason , cos Comfort's competitor ther fleet is at least 4 years old "younger" than Comfort's , taxi drivers prefer to drive a newer taxi ....
