mochou SG That will only happen under that kind of situation when you go ridiculously short distance. AND, that day must not be public holiday, not peak hour, not midnight. And if the cab stop to wait for traffic light, the meter may go up by 10cents also.

FireIce, you can actually through the MRT station concourse, onto the covered walkway (should have) and into the bus stop, instead of taking a short taxi ride like that --- and $2.4 gone!
