One of our forum member complained she is allocated a MErcz cab while booking normal cab ... do you know that a merc driver pay 40 % more for his rental while you pay 20 cent which is less than 10 %... Y complain.. you are travelling in luxury and comfort at the expense of the poor cabby

The GLC cab company are blood sucker teh new merc cab that reg cost slightly more than the normal cab yet they charge the cabby so much more

H...A mediocre cab driver make only $1500 per month driving close to 12 hours a day everyday that is without cpf... a good one probbaly make $3k that being the exception than norm

Lets pity the poor cabby hope the government do more for them.. otherwise .... election is coming you know

i do personally know some merz cab drivers and they are not hard on the money

they are a clique of their own

in fact, some wear rolex and live in semi-Ds
they say they drive to spend time and they choose to join the merz fleet bcos they themselves are merz owners

they choose it, they can afford it
so why the double standard of the flag down rate

FireIce is spot-on here . Most Limo drivers i knew is all "cho-bo-lan" past time fellas .

They have their $35 per trip contacts , like hotels , Corporate and personal contacts . If dun have , then they drink coffee lor .

They earned roughly slightly higher than those normal drivers , they earn as much as $3K a month . Whereas , normal drivers earned $2.0 - $2.4k a month .

i know some mediacorp artistes oso have their own "personal" merz cab to ferry them around

Yes, Merc cab drivers (those permanent ones) really have it tough going. Mainly because many customers baulk at taking Merc cabs, thinking the rate is substantially higher.

Some of the drivers seem quite educated to me. My driver today has university qualifications and wears a Rolex.

yah, i find tt merz cabbies are more eloquent
they speak english (and a barrage of dialects, even malay)
they greet, they chat intellectual topics, they wish u good day when u get off....

i guess it's bcos they are commissioned to drive VIPs sometimes so they have to speak well

Rolex ? Very expensive watch meh ? $3000 can get one ma , at least a second hand good condition one .

Anyway , i smarter a bit , even i have a Rolex , i won't drive to work with my Rolex , kana robbery like f*ck ! Especially night shift fella .

Some Merc drivers sibei kuai lan one , depending on which company they drive .

The most difficult company , that has the highest criteria to become a Limo driver is Comfort's Sovereign , kani ni na I apply somemore must go thru' 3 interviews , and wait .

First interview , they checked my qualifications , and then checked my booking records , and then checked my ang-mo good or not .

Second interview , checked whether my place and location good or not . Check my courtesy knowledge can or not , then asked silly question like airport surcharge how much ? Weekend how much ? Peak Hour CBD surcharge how much , kani ni na stupid !

Third interview worst , asked me why i want to become a Limo driver , stupid , right ? Money la .

At the end , must wait , one year liao , still no sound no picture from them .
