ei, i wanna ask hor

like this afternoon hor, i was in a cab on BKE towards PIE

then almost bang into the lorry infront (bcos further up oredi lian huan che huo....so sudden brake)
relli jus 2 inches between bumpers sia......ji scary......

so hor, if kena accident on the expressway (or other roads) then passenger how ah?
stranded?
then how to pay the fare? or no need to pay?

any passengers here involved this kinda situation?

where got so good no need to pay one…if the taxi driver is the one who caused the accident..I think he need whatever money he can lay his hands on..I think if kena accident on the expressway, if the taxi driver is those mafan type..He will ask u to stay put and be witness lor..Must have witness mah right??

there are few ways to go abt it...depends on what's the agreement between both cab drivers...or u can decide for yourself....but basically the formula is this

(travelling charges frm starting point to where accident happened) - (2.40, if u flagged the cab on the road....additional if booking/peak hr etc) + (the full charges on the next cab)

the taxi driver will call operator to get next nearest cab...rem to get a receipt frm the driver if u paid the first driver full charges, so tt u can show it to the next driver n nt pay the starting charges.

I've read a case where the guy actually sued the taxi driver before. The suay thing was the passenger was a lawyer, and there was an accident. The lawyer said that during the accident, he suffered a whiplash that caused permanent damage to his neck..

as a result, he was not able to perform properly in court and felt tired most of the time, blah blah.. so he sued (dunno the driver or the taxi company) for damages and got 5mil compensation (i think)..

was in TNP a few years ago..

Moral of the story: if you're a taxi driver, be really careful when driving a lawyer. Twisted Evil

remember last time when a cabby killed a motorcyclist by swerving his cab on to the motorcycle path? got a passenger inside his cab that time. in the hit and run case, the lady passenger in the end go and "sabo" the cabby and he was jailed for 4 years?

if almost kanna accident, can try scold the cabby and say "never die before issit??!!"

usually passengers just stay inside the cab.. lazy to flag another

Unless the taxi driver accident , it take about ten minutes to deal with the routine .

If the taxi driver hit other people backside , he need to pay company $2000 fine , you got heart to ask for discount ?

If the taxi got hit , he will be paid according by insurance , so "free-ride" also can .....

Taxi driver at fault, we pay. Taxi driver not at fault also we pay. Then win liao lor??? You try band on the taxi driver vehicle, they not only claim on the demages of their vehicles, they even claim from your insurance on their income lost per day while their vehicles is in the workshop. If he claimed he earns $200 per day, I'm sure they have every heart to claimed from you.

Regulations stated that when a customer got on-board a taxi , he/she has to pay the regulated taxi-charge on the meter .

Maybe i would suggest , asked the driver nicely , you have got not enuf money , can discount or not ?

Honestly , i never kana accident b4 , so cannot say too much .

I just imagine if it does happened , I would make the initiative to tell the customer : " Don't wory miss , now it's $10.40 , i stopped the meter first , then we start again after i do a settlement with the other party ! "
