Squirrel Seeks
Chipmunk - David Sedaris

Sedaris is a writer who is treated like a rock star wherever he
goes in the US. This book tells why.
Written like a subversive Aesop's Fables, each little short
story tells of the weaknesses, the follies and sometimes the minor
tragedies of humanity, however told through animal characters.
For example, in the titular story, a squirrel and a chipmunk
gets along well but due to something which the chipmunk does not
understand and is too embarrassed to ask about, they both drift
apart.
Follies and tragedies where people live their lives milking
sympathy is told in The Motherless Bear, and those who reject sense
because of their personal prejudices are in a few of their
tales.
Freed from "morals of the story" like Aesop's tales, Sedaris
spins stories which are captivating and sometimes, like in the last
tale of The Grieving Owl, are just outright hilarious.
