The Wind-up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami
The story starts out when Okada's car goes missing. This unsettles
his wife and lots of strange things start to happen to Okada. His
wife grows distant, he gets strange phone calls and strange people
move in and out of his life.
His wife leaves him and his life falls into a strange spiral of
weirdness where the strange people all have strange stories to
share with him.
Ultimately, everything is intertwined in a surreal and fascinating
tale of desperation, despair, hope and redemption.
A very recommended read, 4 1/2 out of 5.
