ratinacage SG

dumbdumb! SG

its not so much ppl reading it that bothers me, but ppl taking it for real, when that book is meant to be a fiction.

Si Geena SG

I've said it before. I'll say it again. It's fluff.

But I'm sure that doesn't prevent Hollywood from making a movie out of it. The Americans are so full of it.

My concerns are very similar to most of you. I fear for the general populace for imbibing this fluff and taking it for fact.

BTW, seems Mr. Brown's other books are riding on the crest of the popularity of "Code".

Ecxentrique SG

Other authors are also riding on the popularity of the book.. adding more layers to the "fluffity"

on tenterhooks SG

devoid05 SG

i haf to agree...
its worth as a good read, but still... it's overrated. n the fallacies promulgated in it doesn't enrich us either.
there are better reads out there.

The reason why Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code is so controversial is because he has lifted research from Gnostic scholars without permission (and is facing a lawsuit). Furthermore, he has put the Opus Dei orgainsation in a bad light as he is insinuating that OD will not hesitate to commit murder. Last of all, the book has the potential to mislead Christians from what they have been taught all along (about Jesus's celibacy).

deathscythe99 SG

It's just a book lar Rolling Eyes

so i see the purpose of this thread is to help us increase our post.

"......If anyone have insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666."

so many ppl have that book now that u can easily borrow it from anyone. anyways i read the da vinci code last. I started with Angels n Demons 1st, moved on to Deception Point and Digital Fortress b4 i finally picked up Da Vinci Code.

anyone tried rule of 4 yet? its not that nice...

Othello_Red SG

Rule of 4…that one is a lot more dialouge…can get rather dry, boring and even confusing at times. But, all in all the Hypnerotomachia Poliphilli seems to be quite interesting. Especially with all this code breaking and stuff.

diggo SG

Feel tat this book is too much of a hype...some sensitive idiot pick it up and blow it out of proportion....

The book is listed as a fiction for christ sake (pun not intended). This is an author dream publicity.

Juz wondering wat will happen if a brilliant writer weave a tale of intrigue (wrong spelling...), murder etc etc etc... of Allan, Buddha and christ...

I agree. I found it harder to read thru Rule of 4. And it Is a bit more confusing, the way it jumps between time frames.
