Sables, also known as Martes zibellina, is a graceful carnivore
of the weasel family, found in the forests of northern Asia and
highly valued for its fine fur. The sable population is not
threatened yet, so they are not in the endangered species list.
However, the numbers are fast dwindling because they are vigorously
hunted for the fur. A sable fur coat can fetch up to
USD63,000.
Russia is taking measures to prevent sables from dying out.
Its difficult to find fotos of sables. This one is taken from a
Russian website. I will continue to search. Its beautiful.
This Russian sable fur coat costs a whopping $62,500!
