There was a documentary I saw years ago. In the
west coast of America, the water of Colorado River was recycled. If
I remember correctly, by recycling the used, dirty
downstream water thru cleaning and pumping it back into
the upstream river.
This way, they can have a continuous flow
(recycle) of water.
Many years later (I believe, it was more than a
decade later); they discovered that the fish population dwindles
and dwindles. This, despite, everything they did to rejuvenate
the fishes.
Finally, they did some comprehensive studies.
They found that American women were consuming birth
control pills and somehow traces of these pills
found their way into the waterway.
Over the years and thru the recycling process,
accumulated and contaminated the eco-system. The fishes were,
literally, fed on diet of birth control
drugs.
Anyone remember this documentary?
