An bird flies in the sky as the annular eclipse is seen in Sudan's
capital of Khratoum October 3, 2005. An annular eclipse differs
from a total eclipse in that the moon appears too small to
completely cover the sun. As a result, the moon is surrounded by an
intensely brilliant ring or annulus formed by the outer perimeter
of the sun's disk. The eclipse's narrow corridor first traverses
Portugal and Spain to travel across mostly deserted parts of
Africa, encompassing Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Chad, Sudan Ethiopia,
Kenya and Somalia. REUTERS/Mohamed Nureldin
