Format:
- Each team consists of up to 5 players with 2 of them playing each week
- Each player will bowl 3 games with Hdc system applied
- Max 12 pts to play for each week
- Venue can be fixed at 1 alley or rotate each week.
- 4 to 6 teams allowed in the league
- League will be played for 2 or 3 rounds, depending on the response
- Prizes will be given for top teams, highest scratch/hdc ind/team game and series.

We are planning to play this doubles league in many alleys in singapore, like the national league Laughing . We will play in Yishun SAFRA, Victors Superbowl, Pocket Bowl and other alleys too. This league will be played on a Friday night once every 2weeks. We will commence once 6 teams are formed. A team cpt meeting will be held before the event starts to let everyone agree on the rules and etc.

So find a group of bowling fanatics (2-5 people) and register now! If you cant find people to team up, you can pm me and i help u find a team. Also, FF are a bunch of friendly and still learning bowlers. This league will be fun compare to those league organise by the bowling center.

The prize is heavily depend on the no of teams, no of rounds and how much each team needs to pay for the trophy fund and weekly fund. If there are 6 teams and we play 2 rounds, the top team will estimate to get $250+. There are also other team and individual awards.

The reason for having 2 players is it easier to find players and I feel 3 games are just the right amt of games to determine who is the better player on that day.

From my personal point of view, I think 3 games are a little too few to enjoy the atmosphere. Moreover, there's only 2 players per team.

Base on other leagues, Doubles League usually 5 games per bowler, Trios league usually 4 games per bowler, and Foursome usually 3-4 games. This is to balance out so that the whole league match can finish at a reasonable period of time frame.

Assuming it takes 15 mins for 4 bowlers (2 per team) to bowl 1 game each, the whole match will finish in 45 mins.

Rather no kick leh...

Hi FF,

I have to apologise about the lack of reply from FOS regarding this friendly challenge. As you know, some of us are involved from 1 - 3 leagues, thus we are not going to find it easy to squeeze time for another league.

The idea is a great one, but I have to say Teriyaki has a point. If it's just 2 bowlers each side, then 4 games would be more ideal, otherwise the match would be over in about an hour at max. (Faster if we strike more)

Any other comments, FOSters?

Yah, i also agree with teriyaki & prataman.

Maybe we can change the format to trios and 4 games series. Then the league match will last about 2hrs. The expected no of teams will also be reduced to 4 teams and maybe we stretched the no of round to 3 rounds. Then this fortnightly league will require 9 x 2wks =18wks which I feel is good enough to sustain interest and also reduce the chance of ppl hoping the league end faster.

My FF team is able to support 2 teams. Any FOS or other friends interested? Wink

Anyway,

There's also Singles League which may be rather interesting also.

So far, I have seen Ladies Singles League. This format basically more challenging for individuals, as you are the only 1 fighting with opponent.

If really lack of teams, maybe can suggest Singles League too~

If got 30 bowlers, then total no of weeks will be 29 weeks, assuming bowling every week with 1 opponent.

29 weeks is more than half a year, which is long enough to sustain interest.
