Singapore, December 28, 2006 -- Leading regional IT and
communications solutions provider Fujitsu Asia Pte Ltd launched the
MHX2300BT the worlds first 2.5-inch, 300GB Serial Advanced
Technology Attachment (SATA) hard disk drive (HDD).
Designed primarily for mobile PCs and digital TVs, the MHX2300BT
has a spindle speed of 4,200 revolutions per minute (rpm) and a
storage capacity of 300GB, giving the product the highest storage
capacity of any commercially available 2.5-inch SATA HDD.
The 2.5-inch form factor and high storage capacities make the
MHX2300BT a suitable alternative to the 3.5-inch HDDs typically
used for applications such as:
· Gaming
· Video editing
· Digital audio and video recording
· High-end personal computing
The high storage capacities are realised via perpendicular magnetic
recording (PMR) technology. Unlike conventional longitudinal
magnetic recording techniques, in which information is stored
parallel to the surface of a HDD, PMR technology aligns magnetic
charges perpendicular to the disk surface. This allows a HDD to
store data using smaller bit sizes, for higher storage densities
and capacities.
The MHX2300BT also possess attributes found in earlier SATA HDDs by
Fujitsu, such as:
· Fast data transfer rates
· Low power consumption
· High shock tolerance
· Near-silent operation
Due to our strong focus on innovation, Fujitsu Asia remains at the
forefront in promoting advanced technologies such as perpendicular
recording and SATA, while at the same time continuing to meet the
industrys insatiable demand for high-capacity products, said Mr
Loh Chong Shing, Regional Senior Vice President of Fujitsu Asia.
Our commitment to R&D has led to the development of the
industrys first 2.5-inch 300GB SATA HDD, and it will allow Fujitsu
to achieve more engineering breakthroughs in future, he
added.
The MHX2300BT is part of the MHX2xxxBT series of 2.5-inch SATA HDDs
which also includes:
· The 4,200rpm, 250GB MHX2250BT, also launched today
· The 4,200rpm, 200GB MHV2200BT, launched last year

The MHX2300BT will be available for the ASEAN (including Singapore,
Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam) and India
markets beginning late February 2007. Visit http://sg.fujitsu.com or
