would u stop using “gay” and “lesbian” in a negative way? It smacks of biogtry

shade343 SG

Its a common term among the gaming community, and frankly, I think the gay/lesbian gamers dont usually mind. Laughing

[email protected] SG

even if gay n les gamers dun mind, the thread titles come out in the main public forums, not just the gaming community. pls bear that in mind.

I can remember at least 2 other such titled threads besides this one started by the same guy. Pls refrain from such i future.

shade343 SG

Im aware of that, but I think the public should understand that the term gay/les in the gaming community is used to refer to an overpowered/imbalanced action or object. It isnt used in a manner to cast gays or les in a negative way.

[email protected] SG

the fact that the term is used within the gaming community relects on the negative view the community has of people of that orientation.

in any case, regardless if the public should understamd it or not, shouldn't some respect n sensitivity be shown? Rolling Eyes

shade343 SG

Well, this term should be nothing new to you. It has been around for quite some time and I guess its used because its more convenient. Like its easier to say "so gay" as compared to saying "so overpowered".

But the trend is to use the word imba these days though.... Laughing

[email protected] SG

well, im asking for some sensitivity here in future usage. lidat considered too much for u to agree to help enforce as mod? Rolling Eyes

ChoCoChips SG

I think you’re being abit too sensitive here..

[email protected] SG

i didn't react to the 1st and 2nd topics. but after keep seeing these sort f thread titles, enuf is enuf can. this sort of terminology, u want to use in gaming forums, go ahead. the topic titles appear in a wider public forum, and regardless of whether the public should or should not know it, its not a good mentality to have. Gamers got the whole "gay is bad, so if something is bad its gay" mentality from the states. its not a good attitude to cultivate. Why people cannot understand this? Rolling Eyes

Technomage SG

lich and venom is better is alot of situation. nova + chain is jus Smile Smile Smile Laughing

sand king SG

o ya 4got put, only good for early gaame Embarassed

shade343 SG

Well, I wont really enforce it strictly here because I believe in freedom of expression. Im not a dictator here. And you must understand that some gamers here suffer from limited vocabulary. So do spare a thought for such gamers who have no better word to use.

As long as there isnt a negative or hurtful intent associated with the term, Im ok with it.

Be assured that if any post or replies uses the term gay/les with a negative intent(be it insults or whatever), I would be happy to close the thread immediately. Smile

Simon Dean SG

nice theorem Rolling Eyes pseudo sociologist

[email protected] SG

so when they say CM n Lina r lesbian, are they saying good or bad things about this CM n Lina? if its bad, isn't it used with a negative intent?

i might be willing to accept the "limited vocab" excuse, but seeing as simon dean just showed he can actually spell "pseudo sociologist" (like wow!), I doubt it. Laughing

stellazio SG

its something like who and who tag is a gay combo kinda stuff..cuz they fcuk ppl up..

but cm and lina happened to be females, so lesbian combo tag lohz, though personally i only heard of gay combo tags, not lesbians..oh well.. Laughing
