majority of the people tell me that its stupid to not get maelstrom

however, i find that maelstrom is only good for below level 15-16, after that, it loses its purpose.

you really have to depend on how your farming is like, how much money you can earn.

for me, if the opponents are really aggressive, i would get maelstrom, if they are stupid and let me farm my ass off, i would get harder to get items like demon edge, sacred relic, to form either MKB, buriza, radiance.

i also have problems with maelstrom, i find that everytime i get it, the chain lightning effect does not come out as effectively as it says.

most of the time, i repeat, MOST. this are the items that i aim to get in order.. i repeat.. AIM

1. treads
2. buriza
3. lothars
4. monkey king bar/aegis
5. aegis/monkey king bar
6. divine edge

i really dont recommand getting trends as the first item, concentrate on your attack then your attack speed.Get a solid fountation first.

im guessing that your solid foundation is based on attack damage?

if so, the player has to sorta tower hug all the time, and be very weary of ganks and etc.

on a side note, im not disagreeing with you. i like to raise my attack high up as early as possible if the team mates are not agressive to an extent that it hinders my gaining of xp and farming.

Perhaps one can get linkens or EoS so that he can get closer to creeps and make fuller use of his AoE lightning damage.
