Venue: Silverstone Circuit, England
Laps: 60
Race start: 8pm Singapore time
This is the last British Grand Prix that will be held at
Silverstone as Donington Park, previously used in 1993 for the
European GP, becomes the new host. Silverstone was created from a
former airfield and hosted the first-ever round of the F1 world
championship. Ironically,.almost 60 years later, it's also the
venue of the announcement of a breakaway series that could change
the look of the sport forever.
The open nature of the track makes it susceptible to strong
winds which can change a car's handling from lap to lap. A stable
car that can avoid fluctuations in aerodynamic grip in such
conditions is crucial. Long straights, fast curves such as Copse,
Stowe (where Michael Schumacher broke his leg 10 years ago) and
Becketts dominate the course, punctuated by a few fiddly complexes
like Luffield and Club. The race can be done on a single pitstop
but two pitstops will be the norm on Sunday.
