Venue: Istabul Motor Park
Laps: 58
Race start: 8 p.m. Singapore time
The Turkish Grand Prix was an instant hit with the drivers and
fans when it was introduced in 2005. There have been only two
winners here - Kimi Raikkonen (2005) and Felipe Massa (2006 -
2008).
Technical: Fast and flowing with many long high-speed corners,
including the 4-apex Turn 8. Aerodynamic efficiency is key to
setting a good lap time. Some of them are blind, due to the many
elevation changes, and bravery helps. Soft and hard compound tyres
will be used this weekend.
Going into the weekend: With all the current teams signed up for
2010 at least conditionally, the focus returns to the track. Can
anyone really stop Jenson Button and Brawn? Ferrari and Massa will
be looking to use their recent upturn in form to defend their
victory. Red Bull have said that a win here is key to their
championship hopes, and they have a double diffuser to aid them.
BMW-Sauber are the last team to introduce their trick diffuser and
they have brought it to Istanbul.
