sand king SG Throughout F1's history there have been some great drivers but there has arguably been none as successful as super Michael Schumacher. So, will he ever be replaced as F1's number 1? Its probably hard to see but we have some great drivers about at the moment. Which is probably part of the problem. Alonso looks very strong but there are many drivers hot on his heels. Will Schumacher ever be replaced? Well, you can never replace him but will there ever be a driver as dominant as he was? Probably. But i have the feeling it won't be for a while... Who has come close to him and who has the potential to be the next F1 Super-Power? Copied of another forum
the Bear SG schumacher? well, for all his skill, he was an absolute rotter on the track, a danger to the drivers around him, and dirty as heck as a driver
sand king SG I have to admit, that Hamilton maybe able to do the job but wont have the same glory as Shumi did.
the Bear SG again, i have to say that Damon Hill and Jacques Villeneuve will beg to differ about the 'glory' seeing he smashed Hill when it was clear that Hill passed him and was going to win the world championship because of that move... and then he tried the same stunt again on Villeneuve but was unsuccessful.. the guy was a danger to everyone around him.. mayhap because of that, people let him pass rather than get smashed...
the Bear SG oh.. and what was that stunt of parking his car on the track after getting pole position? it endangered the rest of the drivers still out there!
the Bear SG no.. i hate it when people idolise him just because he 'wins' there is much more to life and sports than mere winning... look up the word 'sportsmanship' for decorum and dignity, he scores damned low..
Gedanken SG I concur with bear. Rather than WDCs, seven events that stand out about Scummaker are: Silverstone 1994 banned for two races after ignoring stop-go penalty for overtaking Hill on the warm-up lap Adelaide 1994 bumped Hill off the track in the season closer to take the WDC Spa 1995 chopping back and forth across the track, leading to FIAs implementation of the one-move rule. Jerez 1997 tried to bump Villeneuve off the track Austria 2001 forced Barrichello to let him through on the last lap Austria 2002 forced Barrichello to let him through on the last lap AGAIN Monaco 2006 parked car across the track to halt qualifying session when it looked like Alonso was going to take pole from him Will there ever be another Schumacher? God, I hope not.
SBS9828X SG i see hamilton as a bright prospect… but seriously with the 4 top drivers on an equal playing field, it would require more from him… he definitely have a long time to nurture his skill and become the best one day
Kuali Baba SG Not at the moment, given the way things are going. Massa, Alonso and Raikkonen have to share the spoils and will probably do so for some time. They won’t be able to accumulate enough wins each season to beat those records that Schumacher set.
Kuali Baba SG The Austria-gate incidents were probably down to team orders rather than Schumacher's making, but I can name not 2, but 3 other events to take their place: 1) USA 2002: Tried to create a photo finish after dominating the race, and ended up letting Barrichello through. 2) Austria 2002: Forced Barrichello to take the top step of the podium and broke protocol. The team orders rule hadn't yet been introduced and Ferrari were punished for this instead. 3) Belgium 1998: Crashed into Coulthard while trying to lap him in wet weather. Attacked Coulthard in the pits and swore, "He ****ing tried to kill me!"
SBS9806J SG Successful in winning championships? Or successful in crashing people out, such as Adelaide 1994 & Europe 1997 and creating controversy such as the two Austria-gates and Monaco 2006?
jw5453 SG Hamilton will be you answer Mr Sand King. (provided that the Mclaren and Ferrari scandal is not true)
