Well, they can't be that far ahead if Messy's setting fastest
lap, can they? The Ferraris are still fast - it's just that other
teams (read Renault) have progressed to the point where it's no
longer a Schumacher charity benefit.
Looking at the points, Mac's got a LONG way to go if they're going
to be a serious player in this year's championship. Way I figure
it, they've got to make a few changes:
1) Get themselves a Ross Brawn. Whoever's coming up with this
"let's load up the car and save a pitstop" strategy obviously can't
do his sums right.
2) Get their hands on somebody who can understand Adrian Newey's
work. The car isn't bad - it's just that nobody knows what to do
with it.
3) Get a decent development driver. Wurz wasn't all that bad, but
they need someone like DC.
Beyond that, they've got to start work on their 2007 car yesterday.
Mac's gotten into the unfortunate habit of bringing out
underdeveloped cars which are essentially good, but don't release
their potential until late in the season, when they've got to make
a heroic but unsuccessful late charge. It's not like the good old
days when the MP4/4 or 5 came out fighting right out of the
box.
