if im not wrong, you cant pitch anywhere u want, there are
specific sites for tent pitching. but then again, do whatever you
want. just dont get caught.
my advice is never to pitch your tent near your bbq area. sparks
may fly onto your tent and cause a fire. if you still insist on it.
do keep lotsa water on standby but then who is gona put out the
fire when you are asleep in the tent? not a very appealing
situation.
groundsheets will be fine. dont forget mosquito coils (also keep
them away from flammable materials). and try your best to put out
all the ambers before you go to sleep or leave the area.
have fun!
