Why so many people burning hell notes today

Around 1 hour ago when I step out of my room to go to the toilet, I realise that there are alot of smoke.

I thought that there is a fire or the indonesia forest have caught fire again but when I took a walk down my house I realise the smoke is caused by many people burning hell notes. I stay at the 6th floor also can smell the smoke coming in lor.

Chee bye lah. People midnight want to sleep and many people tomorrow morning have to wake up early to got to work lah you chee bye burn hell money at midnight and cause so many air pollution.

Hope the king of hell bring you down to hell soon and everyday use fire to burn you

you are very daring, dare to curse at heavenly gods. last time i was like you but not so daring as to say it out loud but a good girl now because i've seen people who curse and swear at heavenly gods very "sway" (unlucky), life is hell to them. believe it or not is all up to you. i prefer not to take the risk, not being superstitious but fear of the mysterious power from the heavenly gods.

taoists burn notes. i understand buddhists do not burn notes. i think heavenly gods do not need them.

being reborn in hell, suffer right. since when they can receive hell notes from humans one? beings in hell are being tortured day and night, so I am wondering where the concept of hell money came from?

1) will they receive the hell money burnt for them?

2) will they get to spend since they are being tortured day and night

i always pay for my meals with hell notes.

1 - find hawker stall run by old auntie/uncle as the more supersticious.

2 - order meal

3 - pay for meal with hell notes

4 - if stall owner complain, threaten that if they dont accept the hell note, will get ghosts to haunt them

I read that in tang dynasty or something, someone go burn hell money to commemorate his departed family and people begun to follow suit as filial piety.

Because they don't want to mix with other people's offerings. just like if u go wedding dinner u will bao your own ang pow to give to the couple, u don't put your money inside other people's ang pow right?

those being burn are not hell money or silver currency ingot paper. they are gold ingot paper to represent gold, to offer to the heavenly king. as a form of paying tribute to an emperor.
