Follow these tips and you’ll soon be rewarded with a
better work-life balance

It’s hard to achieve a good work-life balance,
especially when our culture seems to place a lot of emphasis on
working long hours. But working smart could be the way to gain more
time to do other things you enjoy. This will also make you happier
as you’ll be able to indulge in all the things you love when you’re
not working. Here are five ways you can be more productive and
achieve a better work-life balance in 2018.
Make lists
One of the easiest ways to be productive is to make
lists then tick each item off one by one, as you complete them.
This allows you to get more organised so that you know exactly what
you have to do and it will then give you ample time to participate
in non-work activities. Make lists on a daily or weekly basis –
depending on how busy you are – and you’ll definitely have a
pleasant sense of satisfaction once you achieve all the goals on
your lists.

Be On Time
Whether it’s to the office every morning or to meetings
elsewhere, make sure you get there on time. Not only does this make
you look more professional, it’ll also make your day go by more
smoothly and not give you any unnecessary stress. Plus, when you’re
punctual for all your appointments throughout the day, it’ll give
you more time for after-work activities too.

Don’t eat at your desk
It might seem like a convenient habit but, the truth
is, you have to get yourself away from the stresses of work as
often as you can for a better chance at a work-life balance. So get
out of the office for lunch, even if it’s just to the canteen for
20 minutes. Being away from your desk for a bit will also make you
feel more refreshed and thus more productive, ready to face the
rest of the work day.

Keep weekends work-free
Sometimes it’s hard to tear yourself away from work
even when you’re not at the office, especially when you have an
important deadline or a work crisis that needs your urgent
attention. But if this is not the case, resist the temptation to
check your emails during the weekends so that you can have a break
from work. Take this time to enjoy life, even if it means just
staying in to binge watch your favourite TV show.

Get enough sleep
Yes this isn’t directly related to how you work but the
benefits you’ll reap from getting a good night’s sleep affect both
your work and personal lives. When you have good quality sleep,
you’ll automatically be more productive in the office, which means
you’ll have plenty of time to do other things outside of your
working hours. So make sure you’re well-rested for a better
work-life balance.
