Usually Mispronounced Words

i always pronouced this as VEE-HEE-cle

and the 'b' in 'debt' and 's' in 'debris' are also silent... it gets on my nerves whenever i heard that pronounced wrongly.

Scones should be pronounced as 'ss-KON', not 'ss-cone'.

Anemone...'a-NEH-muh-nee', not 'any-money' or 'anuh-mon'.

Liqourice...'LIK-kuh-rish'.

Need to check with you guys how Lasagne is pronounced. Embarassed

macabre, sword, and plenty of food names such as minestrone, foie gras etc

I notice many locals pronounce hotel as "hortel" which should be pronounced "hoetel"

How about names...like Francois, Penelope, Pierre, Jan and Sian? Smile
